Above bio about me was written by a french journalist few years ago while I was working as a photojournalist in Middle East.
People always ask me about my experiences, or get to know a little bit of my experiences from some articles or some online sources. Since I have been travel for so many years, my story is getting more and more diversity, not just a simple journey, or a few words to explain it anymore, even many peoples couldn’t believe my story.
Few years ago, I was writing a blog about my journey when I was in North America. So I could keep updates with the friends I met on the way. However, along with more actives of social media, I stopped write.
Nowadays, I have a strong feelings to continue to write about it. The purpose is not for people to believe my story. It is more about the process I have been made in contact with this world, I hope that from my unique perspective you can have a different way to understand the people from different region, believe different religion , speaks different language, have different culture, Our kindness and beautiful communities.
Thereby, we could all will have a new perspectives to ourselves.
Last month ( September, 2017), I just finished the last part of my Silk Road bicycle journey in southern Italy. The journey was started in June, 2014, The original final destination was Amsterdam. After cycling through China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, I reached Turkey in January, 2015. During that time was the most difficult period fighting against terrorism. I was cycling the road along with Iraqi and Syrian border though eastern part of Turkey, I got to know and to see what was really happening. Therefore I decided to anchor in this region for a while as a photojournalist.
That is why my Silk Road journey was delayed to Europe after almost 3 years.
In this 3 years I was also working as a producer of video commercials. After one project finished in India, I travel around India by an Royal Enfield 500cc.
In 2010, I went to U.S as an exchange student. The beautiful campus of my school was located in the central part of states, Conway, Arkansas. The exchange program was only for 6 months. I didn’t think that I could learn a lot from the classroom in U.S in this 6 moths, even I was barely to speak English. The idea was I want to experience more about American culture in this 6 months. So I flew to JFK from Shanghai with my bicycle, I assemble it at the Airport, then rode out to New York City，that was feel so good!
After one month on the road, I arrived the school where my exchange program is, I was welcomed by many students and vice-president of university, even interviewed by local TV and school new paper. Of course, My English was getting better after one month journey.
The plan was after finished the exchange program I will cycle to California then fly back to Shanghai, finish my last year of university. However during my stay in Conway, Arkansas , I made a new plan about my trip.
I left Conway, Arkansas before the Thanksgiving of 2010. I emailed my university back to Shanghai, said I want drop one year off. So I was on my way to Argentina，the end of the world —- Patagonia. I was keep heading west from Arkansas. The whole journey of Biking Across U.S.A started from New York, though New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, reached California on January, 2011.
From there I started cycle to south. But who knows, After about 3 months travelling ( included Sail boat & cycling) in Mexico, I ended up in Mexico for almost 2 years and half. Even now I still haven’t reach anywhere of South America.
Currently, I am traveling by motorcycle in Europe finally, which will speed up my journey to South America. But before that I still need to explore Africa. So since October 2017 I will be around Europe and Northern Africa until my financial situation is good to go down to south.
While I am writing my newest updates, I would also start to write some old stories about my previous experiences. This blog is not just a place where I share my stories but also a platform to re-connect all the friends I have met during my journey and make new friends out here.
See you soon comrades!
